30 years ago, today, marked the beginning of the Web as a publicly available service on the Internet. According to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in June 1993 (the year I was born,) there were 130 websites. Today, there are more than 1.86 billion! To add another layer to that, it was only another 18 years before the web that the Universal Product Code was invented, as a revolutionary way to track data in the physical world. It goes without saying that Fetch sits at the intersection of the Web and UPC. Everything we have done and everything we aspire to do is because of this existing infrastructure built by the giants before us. While they were invented decades ago, they continue to be the building blocks that have helped us create a powerful solution used by millions of people everyday.
Today, we are striving to be the transformational platform that companies will use to connect with their consumers on a 1-1 level and reward them for decades to come. It is important to build revolutionary tools that are easily adopted, but I think it is equally important to appreciate all those who have paved the way for you to have the opportunities you have now.
